Ma daughter became a big girl and how she handled it and so did I 😜

Updated: May 2

Hey, everybody,

The beginning of the year has been full of emotions and changes, but one in particular: my princess became a “real young teenager” as she proudly says!

She got her first period 😳😳😳.

Big change and what a sudden feeling of being old for me And her father!🤪🤣🤣.

I was really dreading this moment: does it would make her anxious, does it would scare her, especially if it happens at school… But it went pretty well without too much stress!!

I’m super proud of her because she really well handled it: just a lot of questions the first 2 days but after that, it went very well!

Well, she hadn’t told me but I found out when I put the laundry in the washer (one of my friends reassured me that it had been the same for her! 😉). How did you find it out: did your daughter tell you or did it happen like us?

At the first Time, she felt upset and didn’t want to talk about it but I talked to her by message (which we’ve been doing regularly since a few weeks ago💻). And she started talking to me, asking me questions. I reassured her by explaining it was normal, that she could write all her questions to me and offered to go and buy together what she needed!

She was very happy even though she was a little uncomfortable in the store. We took what we needed (thin pads and a small pocket for the school bag!)!🤩🤩.

The first sensations were not so comfortable but she got used to it day after day And then I asked her if she was interested in wearing menstrual underwear: she said ok! I searched the internet to find the best quality, with healthy materials! Then I proposed her some samples and she chose! not yet tested but we received it! And she loves them because they are super soft (I’m going to test them too!): it’s already a good start! 😉

And to mark this important moment we gave her a diploma and she chose what it was written on it: “diploma of the pre-teen who became a real young teenager”. She was super proud and so we were!! 🤓😎

And besides, I’ve seen with her for a book that could interest her and that could explain her some things, gives answers to the other questions that she still asks herself, especially those she doesn’t want to talk about with me 😉. I found this one:

Chosen and validated by my “real” teenager 🥰

After the “physical and technical” aspects, let’s talk about feelings !!

*My great princess, even if at the beginning she was a bit “stressed” because it was the first time, feels big, more confident in herself: “now I’m a big girl”, so she asks questions about bigger things (lovers, babies,…). We really feel that she has evolved, grown-up. She cares more about others ( maybe it is also the therapy that makes effect 🤔🧐).

*It was a shock for both of us, my husband and I. That’s it, our little baby is no longer a baby. We don’t see them growing: for us, they are still our little treasures. And at the same time, we are proud of the way she handled it! Quietly and serenely enough: CONGRATS MY BIG GIRL 🥰🥰🥰. It took us a long day to assimilate the news… Our little princess has taken a big step and it’s still a blow: time flies and it’s in these moments that we really realize they are growing and that we must appreciate every moment and share, happiness, love with our little/big treasures 💖💙💖💙

And how did you handle this delicate and important moment in your daughter’s life????

Don’t hesitate to share your feelings and experiences! It can help other parents who are a bit helpless in this kind of great moment of life😉.

1…2…3…Let’s share!!!!😊😊😊
